Robert Buchkowski is an ecologist who combines mathematical modeling with field research. He studies how the ecology of organisms can inform the management of terrestrial ecosystems and how animals effect the movement of nutrients between plants and soils. Robert collaborates with economists to build bioeconomic models that incorporate detailed ecology. Currently, he is working on a bioeconomic model of moose and forest interactions for insular Newfoundland. He received his PhD from Yale University and is currently a NSERC postdoctoral fellow at Western University.
Robert is involved in a project entitled: "The Opportunity for Conservation Impact Bonds to finance investment in conservation and enhancement of natural capital in Canada”, under the supervision of Eli Fenichel and in collaboration with Youpei Yan and Shawn Leroux.
