Fulbright awards to Canada provide a prestigious professional development opportunity for American researchers to join our network of leading environment-economy scholars, based out of the Institute of Environment and the Smart Prosperity Institute, at the University of Ottawa.
The University of Ottawa's Fulbright alumni include Brian Murray (Duke), Ben Cashore (Yale), Richard Morgenstern (RFF), Leigh Raymond (Purdue), and Margaret Taylor (Stanford). In 2020-2021, the Institute of Environment will host three Fulbright Visiting Research Chairs: Lew Fulton (University of California, Davis), Kenneth Richards (Indiana University), and Jonathan Rubin (University of Maine).
The chair holders in Environment and Economy, and Environmental Policy, will research aspects of building an environmentally sustainable economy and shifting towards greener growth, from an economic, policy, legal and/or business perspective, and with policy relevance. They will be part of an inter-disciplinary team at the Institute of the Environment, which is home to the Smart Prosperity Institute, Canada’s world-class environment-economy think tank and research network.
Application open to American citizens only. Please share with your US colleagues and networks! Inspite of current travel restrictions between the US and Canada, we encourage all interested candidates to apply: this call is for the 2021-2022 academic year, when we anticipate that cross-border travel will once again be permitted. You can read about Fulbright Canada’s COVID response here.
With more than 300,000 Fulbright alumni in more than 150 countries, the Fulbright program is the gold standard in academic exchange and a leader in public diplomacy. For information on the program and applying, please read more about the Fulbright scholar program.
All awards are subject to the availability of funding, approval by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FFSB), and compliance with FFSB and USG guidelines.
