The natural environment is important for human health. Greater access to parks, trees, and greenspaces in dense urban areas is linked to lower risks for several of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Canada. Nature-based solutions represent an opportunity to leverage these connections to build healthier and more resilient Canadian communities.  However, quantifying these benefits continues to present a significant challenge for project planning and program design, and ensuring equity in the distribution of benefits is an ongoing concern. To address these challenges, this report aims to provide a better understanding of the nature-health-climate nexus, and highlight the necessary tools, data, assessment methodologies, and evaluation techniques to assess health outcomes generated by using nature-based solutions. Our focus throughout on the Canadian context is intended to highlight opportunities for local and regional communities to accelerate the integration of environmental health considerations in their long-term strategic planning.
