Kate Cameron is a recent graduate from the Master of Climate Change program at the University of Waterloo. Throughout her studies, her research has focussed on the intersection of environmental policy and Indigenous Knowledges, and the opportunities for inclusion of Indigenous Knowledges in the mitigation of, and adaptation to, climate change. As a part of her master’s degree, she took on an internship with a team at the University of Calgary, studying the impacts of climate change on water quality and quantity reaching First Nations communities, and analyzing existing water policy in Alberta in relation to these issues. Currently Kate is assisting a team at Wilfrid Laurier University (Ryan Planche, Dr. Alex Latta, Dr. Miguel Sioui) with a research project, exploring the Indigenous Conservation Economy, and non-traditional, sustainable economic models.
