Jose is a Research Fellow at the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose. His current research uses Bloomberg New Energy Finance data to understand how public finance mobilizes private funds into the deployment of renewable energies. More broadly, he is interested in how economic agents make decisions in different institutional settings, and how methods developed to analyze complex systems can contribute to understanding such decisions. His research interest includes Microeconomics, Complexity Economics, Political Economy, Behavioral Economics, and Econometrics.

His PhD dissertation focused on analyzing problems in political economy, focusing on bargaining and unemployment. He investigated how agents with bounded rationality engage in bilateral bargaining, and how their decisions cause unused productive capacity.

Before joining IIPP Jose taught at the New School’s Eugene Lang College, and at Fordham University. He has experience teaching Microeconomics, Statistics, and Mathematics for Economists. He is also a Research Associate at the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis.
