Sophie Bernard holds a PhD in economics from the University of Ottawa. In 2011, she joined the mathematics and industrial engineering department of Polytechnique Montréal, where she is now an associate professor.
Sophie’s research activities are in line with the themes of the circular economy. She has published peer reviewed articles on the management of end-of-life products, remanufacturing, incentives for eco-design, planned obsolescence and international trade in waste. She is also co-author of the report Circular Economy in Quebec: Economic Opportunities and Impacts. Sophie has recently served as an expert for panel discussions led by ECCC and the G7 on circular economy and plastics in the oceans.
Sophie has also co-developed the Circular Economy graduate programs offered at Polytechnique Montréal.
