Dr Bipasha Baruah is the Canada Research Chair in Global Women’s Issues and a tenured full professor in the Department of Women’s Studies and Feminist Research at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Baruah conducts interdisciplinary research on gender, development and globalization; women and work; and social, political and economic inequality. She serves frequently as an expert reviewer, consultant and advisor to international development and environmental protection organizations. Dr. Baruah’s current research focuses on climate change and social justice. It is aimed broadly at understanding how to ensure that a global low-carbon economy will be more gender equitable and socially just than its fossil-fuel based predecessor.
