Sophie Collins is from Esk’etemc, part of the Secwépemc Nation on her mother’s side, and from the Woodland Métis Tribe in Ontario on her father’s side, with additional mixed European ancestry (Swedish, Dutch, Irish, and French). She is a master’s candidate in Simon Fraser University’s School of Resource and Environmental Management. Sophie’s research focuses on developing guidance for integrating Indigenous and Western Knowledge into cumulative effects assessments. Her goal is to create an approach that provides a grounded, holistic understanding of the landscape. This work aims to support both Indigenous and Western governments in co‑managing land and water resources and advancing Indigenous‑led governance.
