Una Jefferson

Research Associate

Una is a Research Associate at the Smart Prosperity Institute. She holds a Masters in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge, where her research examined the relationship between compulsory and voluntary climate change policies for large private greenhouse gas emitters in Canada. Her Bachelor's degree was in Sociology. Previously, she conducted research comparing public and private peat fire management in Indonesia at the Centre for International Forestry Research, and briefed firms on changes to Canadian environmental legislation at Nimonik, an informational tool. She has also produced podcasts and community radio. Her research interests include the relationship between large greenhouse gas emitters and governments; incentives for conservation and carbon sequestration on private land; policies to encourage energy transition; and quasi-experimental methods for policy evaluation.
