Nick Johnstone is Head of the Structural Policy Division of the Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry. He provides leadership to the OECD’s work on new sources of growth, innovation, productivity and entrepreneurship, and the role of industry and industrial policies. He supports the Committee on Industry, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) and its subsidiary bodies.
Mr. Johnstone began his career at the OECD in September 1999, taking up the position of Head of the Empirical Policy Analysis Unit in the Environment and Economy Integration Division of the Environment Directorate, with responsibility for projects such as the analysis of links between public environmental policy, industrial organisation and technological innovation.
He previously held positions as a Research Associate at the International Institute for Environment and Development, and as a Research Officer at the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Cambridge. Mr. Johnstone, a Canadian national, holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge (UK).
Nick Johnstone is a Global Fellow in the Global Fellows and Clean Innovation Research Program and a Collaborator in the Greening Growth Partnership project.
