Experienced environmental professional with more than 25 years of experience working on a wide variety of environmental issues. During my career I have collaborated with international organizations including the United Nations University Program for Water, Environment and Health, and Industry Canada ́s Sustainable Cities program. I have also collaborated with several prestigious Canadian and European institutions from the private and NGO sectors developing projects in Canada, Mexico and Latin America. I am currently doing a Ph.D. in Environmental Sustainability at the University of Ottawa and supporting research with Smart Prosperity Institute (Canada). My main research interests lay in the intersection between environment and agriculture, the use of natural-based solutions for water conservation, ecosystem-based and watershed management, climate change alleviation and ecological-friendly agriculture practices, with a special focus on innovative policy and financial alternatives for supporting such activities. I hold a bachelors in Biochemical Engineering Marine Resources Management from ITESM, a M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph (Canada) and a M.A. in Environmental Economics in Public Policies at ITESM. I am a climate leader with Climate Reality and a founder of a not-for-profit E-NGO (Mexico), through which we are promoting natural-based solutions for watershed management and environmentally friendly solutions to climate change mitigation and adaptation, with a special focus on drought alleviation. I am actively involved in the community, currently volunteer as a Board Member with Wildlands Network and as a Technical Committee member at a think-tank “Hermosillo ¿Como Vamos?” on water and environmental issues, provide training and conferences on water management and climate change solutions, and contribute with articles in local and national media. I hold dual citizenship, Mexican and Canadian.
