Accelerating Clean Innovation: Research into the Public Policies to Drive Greener Growth

Accelerating clean innovation across all parts of the economy will be increasingly critical to Canada's economic and environmental well-being in a changing world. The research, reports, and conference discussions highlighted on this page feature recent work by Sustainable Prosperity and it's partners into how to do that -- and particularly the role that governments can play, through smart policy, public investment, spending, and procurement approaches.

Key questions that have been investigated include:

  • How does clean innovation occur in Canada?

  • Where is there a role for public intervention to drive clean innovation in Canada (either alone or in tandem with private actors)?

  • Where there is a role for public intervention, what is the mix of public policies (including fiscal and regulatory tools), public investments and other mechanisms needed to best promote clean innovation outcomes?

  • How can we design public institutions and processes to best promote clean innovation outcomes and guide public investments?

  • How can government actions and investments best leverage private actions?
