Salary: $65,057 - 81,321 (depending on the level of experience)

We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications and Events Specialist who will lead the production and delivery of events and convening opportunities that are well-attended, engaging, and high-impact. The Communications and Events Specialist will work with the Events Team at TNS/SPI, led by the Director of Operations & Engagement.
The Communications and Events Specialist will lead events through the steps of advising stakeholders on event programming, to pre-event project management, to creative inclusion of engagement activities, to post-event reporting and follow-up. The Communications and Events Specialist will collaborate with the cross-partnership Communications Team to strategically coordinate the planning of events, will write copy for event promotion, and will support on a variety of communications tasks as needed.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead both virtual and in-person events, ranging from targeted stakeholder meetings, to public webinars, and major conferences. The individual will lead events that convene experts and share new research on diverse subject areas at the nexus of the environment and the economy.
This position will report to the Director of Operations and Engagement.
Plan events: Plan and design various events that engage a wide range of stakeholders, raise awareness in our community, build ties between strategic partners and our organization, and support recruitment, fundraising and research activities. To this end, discuss with clients, identifies requirements and deadlines, set budgets, plan and coordinate all the steps required to conduct the event.
Manage events: Organize and manage all the logistics surrounding events, such as reservations, rentals, registration and invitations, catering services, equipment installation and set up of spaces. Supervise the running of these events and remains available to resolve any problems that might arise. Welcome guests and act as the organization representative and host for each event.
Supervise others: Hire and train individuals, such as junior staff, volunteers and caterers, and coordinate and supervise their work to ensure that they carry out their duties as directed and to the required standard.
Manage budgets: Manage budgets related to the organization and running of events, while staying within budget limits and complying with related policies, regulations and procedures.
Advertising: Participate in planning and designing the marketing plans required to conduct events and maximize stakeholder awareness and participation.
Quality assurance: Develop performance indicators and monitors performance by conducting consultations and surveys in order to maximize event effectiveness. Analyze results and makes improvements to optimize event protocols. Write reports, summaries and post-event evaluations to ensure that each event has met its objectives.
Communication and liaison: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and with internal and external partners to ensure that the events for which the incumbent is responsible run smoothly.
General administration: Perform routine administrative and financial functions. Provide administrative support for the office, arrange business meetings, manage complex calendar management, etc.
College diploma in marketing, event management, fundraising, or communications, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Minimum five years’ experience in a similar event management role
Experience working with a variety of stakeholders as well as many teams.
Experience in project management.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Experience using Google Suite, project-management software (e.g. Wrike), Mailchimp, Zoom, Eventbrite, and/or similar online tools used in events execution.
Ability to write and communicate in both official languages would be considered an asset.
Experience in promotional writing would be considered an asset.
Required to occasionally work evenings and weekends when events fall during those times.
