Alaz Munzur is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Saskatchewan, where she has been a faculty member since 2023. Her research examines the economic effects of government regulation and policy on energy and the environment, with current work on the design and interactions of Canadian climate policies and on the impact of border carbon adjustments on Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. Related strands of her work examine the effects of international and internal trade policy choices, and the economic history of nineteenth-century British trade liberalization. Prior to joining the University of Saskatchewan, Munzur was an Assistant Professor at Simon Fraser University's School of Public Policy. She previously worked as a Research Associate at the University of Calgary, where she examined the economic and environmental impacts of infrastructure development in Canada's North. She earned her PhD in Economics from the University of Calgary in 2019.
