Tony joined Smart Prosperity Institute directly from Environment Canada, where he has been a Director General within the Strategic Policy Branch since 2004. While at Environment Canada, he has successively led the research, analysis, and policy functions of the Strategic Policy, Economic Analysis, and Sustainability Directorates of the Branch. Tony began his career with Statistics Canada, and has worked at the executive level in the Tax Policy Branch of Finance Canada and the Priorities and Planning Secretariat of the Privy Council Office. Tony has a strong knowledge of federal policy and decision-making processes, and extensive experience in leading horizontal research, analytical and policy partnerships across a wide range of economic, environmental and sustainable development issues. Tony holds a Bachelor of Arts from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Master of Arts (Public Administration) from Carleton University.
