One of Smart Prosperity Institute’s core initiatives is operating a national research network that convenes academics across the country and facilitates funding for independent, leading-edge research on the environment and the economy.

Fostering research

Smart Prosperity Institute facilitates research funding through key partnerships.

The Economics and Environmental Policy Research Network (EEPRN) is a partnership supported by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and hosted by uOttawa’s Institute of the Environment. The EEPRN mobilizes over 100 students and academics from Canadian universities as well as internationally, and produces up to 6 high-quality academic research pieces every year.

Smart Prosperity Institute has also supported innovative research by a Student Research Network with backing from SSHRC. The Student Network is made up of graduate students (Masters', Ph.D.'s, and Post-Doc's) from across the country who come from different disciplines, but share a common interest in making markets work for the environment.

Supporting peer discussion

The Clean Economy Working Paper Series will provide a forum for researchers to post and disseminate preliminary research in order to invite input and generate discussion among peers, while also providing the public and other stakeholders with early glimpses at the latest research and analysis.

Look out for the launch of the Clean Economy Working Paper Series in Spring 2017
