How effective climate policies for Canada's transport sector can drive the transition from fossil fuels to electricity

What policies would put Canada amongst the world's leaders in clean transportation?
Despite the recent hype surrounding electric vehicles, a transition to electric mobility will not happen without strong climate policy. Professor Jonn Axsen's (SFU) presentation will draws insights from two new studies.
First is a recently released "report card" that assess the long-term effectiveness of policies that drive electric vehicle adoption in each Canadian province. Most provinces receive dire grades, with Quebec standing out as a beacon of hope due largely to its recently enacted (and highly effective) Zero Emissions Vehicle Mandate. The second study uses a consumer purchase model to explore the policies and conditions needed for electric vehicles to make up 40 to 50% of Canada's new vehicle market share by 2030.
Drawing from both studies, Jonn will identify a short list of the most effective electric vehicle policies, feeding into a discussion of what it will take for Canada to become a world leader in electric mobility.
