"A New Conversation About Environmental and Economic Success"

On February 27-28, 2009 SP brought together 50 influential Canadians to discuss what it would take to build a successful campaign for a green economy.

The meeting was a conversation - as opposed to merely a series of panels - between environmental groups and representatives from Canada's major industries, universities, governments and foundations.

The agenda covered four main topics:

  • The Autopsy: what we've learned from the communications around the federal and B.C. carbon tax debates
  • The Lessons: how other major policy shifts have happened before in Canada
  • The Context: how Canada's current economic and political landscape might create room for new thinking
  • The Message: how different segments of the Canadian population view links between the environment and economy.
