Event Date: May 28, 2010
Sustainable Prosperity will be holding a session at the Federation of Canadian Muncipalities (FCM) conference in Toronto, ON on May 28, 2010, from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm. The working session will focus on how municipalities can incentivize environmental improvements while also improving fairness for taxpayers and diversifying municipal revenues. Moderated by Andrew Bevan (Executive Director, Sustainable Prosperity), a panel of speakers will be addressing these issues, including Dave Thompson (Principal, PolicyLink Research and Consulting) and Harry Kitchen (Professor, Economics, Trent University). The workshop will discuss an Environmental Pricing Reform (EPR) toolkit to address specific municipal challenges, including land use, transportation, water management, air quality, electricity consumption, sustainable buildings, social equity and local government financing.
